Jennifer Anastasoff
BuildingBlocks International
San Francisco, California
Jennifer Anastasoff has served as CEO of BBI since 2001. BuildingBlocks International (BBI) is a San Francisco based nonprofit that is working with multinational corporations to develop what Business Week calls a corporate "Peace Corps" and what we call corporate service fellowships. To date, approximately 2,100 corporate employees have served full time for four weeks to a year, applying their management skills within community-based organizations around the world. Ms. Anastasoff’s prior work includes teaching in the classroom through Teach for America, serving as an analyst in the California Legislature, and working in a for-profit education corporation. She has been a speaker at Harvard Business School, Harvard University, and the University of California at Berkeley, and has presented papers at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and at the Comparative International Education Society Conference. Ms. Anastasoff has a Masters in Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where she received the prestigious Public Service Fellowship.
June Bass

June Bass received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Oregon State University. Her 12 year career in volunteer management and non-profit administration includes national and local organizations such as United Way, Friends of the Children First Book and the Beaverton City Library. With First Book June managed a six state western region with over 400 volunteers. At the Beaverton City Library she managed 300 volunteers and was the staff liaison with the library's ancillary groups. June currently is the Volunteer Manager for the Multnomah County Library System overseeing a program with 1600 volunteers at 17 library locations and 9 outreach programs. June has presented several volunteer management training workshops and served on the steering committee for the International Conference for Volunteer Administrators in 2004. June is an active member of Northwest Oregon Volunteer Administers Association (NOVAA) and has held several Board of Director leadership positions including: secretary, president elect, president and past president. Recently, June worked with a colleague to have the Oregon Library Association recognize Volunteer Managers as an official roundtable as part of the Oregon Library Association structure. In 2006 received her Certificate in Volunteer Administration (CVA).
LaVerne Campbell

LaVerne Campbell is the National Director, Volunteer Services for Volunteers of America. She has served as the Senior Director with the Points of Light Foundation and has worked at the American Red Cross at the local chapter, regional and national levels. She was the Volunteer Center Director in St. Louis. Her background also includes extensive experience in designing and facilitating training programs on topics such as board development, staff and volunteer relationships, management and leadership development. LaVerne holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration.
Kelley Carmichael, PsyD

Kelley is a native of Portland, Oregon. In addition to undergraduate
degrees and a Master of Science in Counseling degree from University of
Portland, Kelley earned a Doctor of Psychology from George Fox University.
The academic focus for her doctoral dissertation was women in midlife and
mentoring relationships. After a career in mental health, she transitioned
into the nonprofit sector through a year of service in volunteer management
as an AmeriCorps volunteer. Kelley is Director of Off The Beaten Path, a
social change project designed to engage Baby Boomers and nonprofits in
meaningful working relationships. She has two children, two step children
and four grandsons. Kelley lives in Portland with musician Brian Casey and
their two exceptional cats, Sam and Betty.
Kari Dunn
The Case Foundation

As a Social Investment Manager with the Case Foundation, Kari Dunn has a range of experience with the government and nonprofit sectors, with particular expertise in the development of cross sector partnerships. Her Case Foundation portfolio focuses on strengthening civic engagement and volunteerism, and accelerating innovative approaches to health care. Prior to joining Case, Dunn served as Executive Director of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, a presidential commission to strengthen and expand volunteer service throughout the country and around the world. Before that, Dunn was White House Liaison and Senior Advisor to the CEO, at the Corporation for National and Community Service, the parent agency of the AmeriCorps program and other national service initiatives. Dunn spent time on a variety of policy issues as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill and received her B.A. in political science and public policy at Indiana University.
Nancy Gaston, CVA

Nancy A. Gaston has almost twenty years experience in volunteer resources management, having directed a volunteer-staffed crisis line, a volunteer chore service, and a volunteer center. She also directed the volunteer program for a faith congregation. She is past chair of Region X (Pacific Northwest) of the former Association for Volunteer Administration (AVA) and past President of AVA. As a trainer and consultant with her own business, Gifts Differing, she keynotes and presents at regional, national and international conferences. Nancy is also a retreat leader, trainer and consultant for many nonprofits and a facilitator for nonprofit and governmental boards. She has been adjunct faculty for Portland Community College, Marylhurst University and Washington State University, Vancouver.
Karen Heller Key

Karen Heller Key is Vice President for Programs with the National Human Services Assembly (NHSA), a membership association of national nonprofits serving people’s human service needs, from children and youth through the lifespan. Assembly members include many of the nation’s largest and best known national nonprofits, including Girl Scouts of the USA, American Red Cross, and Catholic Charities USA. In her role as Vice President for Programs, Karen oversees the Assembly’s work in shared learning through 10 peer networks, its collective action through collaboration around policy and programs, and its information-sharing / ‘infomediary’ role for the sector. Prior to joining NHSA, Karen served as the national Director of Volunteer Alliances for AARP. She has also worked as a nationally-recognized management consultant, facilitator, and writer specializing in board development, volunteer resource management, and organizational learning as well as served in the role of Director for Program Development and Marketing with Leadership America, on the staff of the United Way of America, and with a variety of nonprofit organizations in New York, including as Director of Volunteer Resources with the American Red Cross in Greater New York, managing a workforce of 8500 active volunteers.
Justin Ho

Justin Ho is currently coordinating activities of the secretariat for the BC Social Economy Roundtable. He is also an active communications consultant for the nonprofit sector, with a disparate combination of expertise including writing, strategy development, program management, design, and new media. Justin has worked and volunteered with local, provincial and national nonprofit organizations. His community involvement focuses on volunteerism and philanthropy. He is currently Board Secretary for Volunteer BC (provincial) and a board member of the HR Council for the Voluntary/Non-Profit Sector (national). Justin has an undergraduate degree in Commerce from the University of British Columbia. He has completed training in volunteer management and he was one of only a handful of participants in the first Institute of Advanced Studies in Volunteer Management in Battle Creek, Michigan, in 2001.
Sherry Iversen

Sherry Iversen is the Coordinator for the Volunteer Department at the University of Chicago Medical Center. This position is under the Community Affairs division of the hospital which is headed by Michelle Obama, Vice President of Community & External Affairs. Sherry works closely with both external and internal teams and helps to develop partnerships with the entire internal staff of the medical center as well as with the community. Sherry joined UCMC in January 2007; in this capacity, Sherry recruits, trains, and mentors over 500 volunteers. Sherry also leads all volunteer recognition events, i.e. National Volunteer Week, Volunteer Banquets, and year-round recognition. Sherry comes to UCMC from Rush University Medical Center where she was also the Volunteer Coordinator and managed over 700 volunteers. These numbers included all volunteers, physician shadows, high school and college students, and Foreign Medical Graduates. Sherry was a member of the Women's Auxiliary board, the Interpreter Steering Committee and the Psychosocial Disaster Committee.
Lesa Ketterlinus

Lesa Ketterlinus is Director of the Career Center at Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. In this capacity she works with students to make decisions about their majors, careers and/or graduate school options. In addition to providing one-on-one assistance, she presents workshops and seminars on a variety of career-related topics. In addition to her work at Truman, Lesa is the current president of the Adair County YMCA. She is also chair of the Chamber of Commerce’s Kirksville Leadership Institute, a 10-month program that exposes emerging city leaders to various facets of the community. Lesa also owns two businesses: LEK Jewelry and LEK Presentations. In the latter, she presents programs on business etiquette and facilitates team building, communication and leadership potential utilizing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI). Lesa has a Master’s of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Columbus State University, and a Bachelor of Music Education (BME) from Florida State University. She is certified to administer and interpret the MBTI.
Debbie Krakauer

Debbie Krakauer, Agency & Volunteer Services Coordinator for Volunteer San Diego, has worked in the field of volunteer management for the past 20 years, first as volunteer coordinator with two local non-profit organizations, and for the past 3 years, at Volunteer San Diego. At Volunteer San Diego, she is responsible for implementing volunteer management training sessions, overseeing the Board Connection program, and providing on-going support to agency partners. Since 1993 she has served on the Board of Directors of DOVIA of San Diego County and held many positions including co-chair.
Sarah Jane Rehnborg, Ph.D.

Sarah Jane Rehnborg joined the RGK Center for Philanthropy and Community Service, at the University of Texas at Austin, at its inception in 2000. Dr. Rehnborg's duties as Associate Director for Planning and Development at the RGK Center include grant development and reporting, and community service responsibilities along with outreach and research. Currently a member of the Nonprofit and Philanthropic Studies Bridging Discipline Committee, Dr. Rehnborg teaches at both the graduate and undergraduate level. An expert in volunteerism, Dr. Rehnborg is also a published author in the field and has served as a consultant and trainer to organizations including the Points of Light Foundation, AARP, the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Texas Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, the Texas Department of Mental Health/Mental Retardation, the Comptroller's Office of the State of Texas and numerous local groups. She received her undergraduate degree from Denison University and her Masters and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.

Scotti Weintraub

Scotti Weintraub is the Volunteerism Program Coordinator with Oregon
Volunteers. She coordinates the Oregon Committee on Volunteerism as
well as the Volunteer Center Network of Oregon. Scotti manages the
Oregon Governor's Volunteer Awards program, a MLK Day mini-grant program
and many other Oregon Volunteers initiatives. Previously, Scotti
managed a school-based service learning AmeriCorps program for a youth
development organization. She holds an MA in American Studies.
